The City of Savanna, IL

Located at 406 Main Street, the Savana Museum & Cultural Center is open from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sundays, from the first weekend in May to the last weekend in October. 

The museum is handicap accessible and houses permanent exhibits on the second and third floors including Civil War uniform collection, Model Railroad depicting Savanna’s railroad history, Wayne “The Waltz” King room, and nurse Helen Scott Hay exhibit for her Red Cross work at the turn of the 20th century.

In 2008, a small group of volunteers began the renovation and construction of the Savanna Museum & Cultural Center. By 2010, the 50 volunteers with over 8,000 volunteer hours led to the receipt of the Illinois Governor's Hometown Award.

In 2011 the museum opened its doors to the public. In 2021, after a decade of community events and activities, a second round of renovation led to a Grand Re-Opening.
