Abandoned House Tear Down Opportunity
The City of Savanna is currently selecting the next round of residential properties to be demolished using the
remaining IHDA grant funds. If you own a qualifying vacant home, you may be eligible for this opportunity.
Eligibility Requirements
• Residential properties only
• Home must be vacant
• Applicant must hold legal title to the property
Available Options
Option 1 — Sell the Property
• Owner conveys title to the parcel to the City.
• Purchase price is based on an appraisal.
• Purchase price not to exceed $5,000 (less preparation costs).
Option 2 — Keep the Property
• Owner retains title to the parcel.
• The City of Savanna removes the structure at no cost to the owner.
How to Apply
Complete an election form and drop it off to the City of Savanna to be considered for this program. Funding is
limited and applications will be reviewed while funds remain available.
